Laying Down on the Alkalai Flats of the Alvord
The surface is drying clay, dark where still damp from a big storm. It makes an inviting surface to run, play, and lay down. Later in the year, when it is thouroughly dry, we have sped across it in the truck. The the clay has built up over centuries, and is still saturated below the surface, unsafe to drive on.
